Yesterday you did # 35, 36, 37, 48 & 49
Freefall is when an object is dropped. The only influence on the object is GRAVITY!!! AND when you drop the object, it speeds up as it falls so there is acceleration on the object...... acceleration due to gravity (g). g is a constant-- 9.8 m/s2. When the object is going in the down direction, g is negative.
Our old formula
**Solving for x (displacement) with NO final velocity x=vit + 1/2 at2 (squared)
Still holds true for free fall….except that x becomes y (since our displacement is NOT horizontal but vertical instead) and the “a” becomes g (because g is the constant for acceleration due to gravity). DO NOT rewrite the equation, instead just remember y instead of x and g instead of a J
y =vit + 1/2at2 (squared) and g=9.81 (and usually negative)
